Texas isn't the South,you're right about that. It's not really Mid-West either, or South West. Really Texas is just Texas, and that's a lot.

I don't know about your Texas was a country once distinction, since the South in a sort of sense was its own country during the Civil War. Texas has been part of more countries than the South has, perhaps?

I miss Texas Cowboys though you're probably right, they're not for politics. Maybe just rodeos, Country dance clubs and the occasional daydream.

Lovely combination!Can't believe you did that for $1.23 per serving! I made a roasted pear dessert and served with icecream, took pictures to blog about it but I still can not bring myself to post it because melting icecream looks awful. So it is sitting in the folder!

Ice cream is indeed so hard to photograph. Especially when I take it outside! This was a fantastic dessert. The salted caramel sauce, creme fraiche ice cream, and those toasted pound cake croutons were wonderful together. (I must be a Texan and not a Southerner because I like tea with no sugar.;)

You make me miss the South so much, Shelley! I grew up with sharing food from my plate for taste-tests. Why should everyone at the same table order the same dish when you can sample your dinner mate's?! Anyway, I have not made the creme fraiche ice cream from The Perfect Scoop, but after seeing yours, I simply must. What a fabulous dessert! And who could resist pound cake croutons and salted caramel sauce?! Oh, and I agree with your every point of why Texas is not part of the South. :)

Basically love EVERYTHING about this post. First, the croutons are more than deceiving, leaving me asking "Are you SURE there's not garlic on those?" And that is basically great. Also, this definitely makes me miss the South. I will never forget the first time I went to Salt Lick, expecting that all bbq is served with sweet tea - much to my surprise, there was simply none to be found! That was the moment I knew TX was not a part of the South ;)
